Last October our IC team was invited to the prestigious Abdesselam Trophy, which is traditionnally hosted by the ICs of France, Belgium and Spain for a double and mixed-double competition (2 ladies +50 +55 and two gentlemen +60 +65). Held in the magnificent town of Beaulieu-sur-Mer near Nice in France, the matches were frequently interrupted by the rain. Our team finished second with Belgium, with France as a winner.
After the matches, the official dinner on Thursday evening was organized in a nice restaurant which served typical meals from the "Côte d'Azur". Thank you to our wonderful team : Claudine Ferralli, Susana Villaverde, Patricia Operto, Peter Heller (Captain), Robert Van Malder, Andrew Rae. Our 2019 General Assembly took place on Sunday, May 19 at the beautiful Tennis Club Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives. During the official part, budget, 2019-2020 activities and other subjects were treated. 6 new members were elected as well as The Committee (reelection). Then it was time for a nice lunch altogether followed by exciting matches of the 1st round (players such as Dimitrov and Gulbis started that day).
IC of Switzerland was particularly happy to welcome Monaco (Men's competition) and Belgium (Ladies) at the Tennis Club of Geneva last September as the friendship relations between our Clubs dates back of many years. A special thanks to the Ladies' team who was particularly strong for this competition with Christelle Fauche, Elena Bergomi, Claudine Ferralli, Virginia Gollut and Susana Villaverde.
Our Club received many wonderful gifts during the evening dinner from IC Belgium and Monaco. In early Spring, IC of Switzerland was invited to Budapest for an IC-Swiss-IC competition. Susana Villaverde, Patricia Operto, Pia Frey and Andràs Szcoecsik had a great opportunity to practice outside on clay court at the beginning of the outdoor season. The matches were tight and the final score was 5:5 due to some players injured. The matches were followed by a nice visit of Budapest and an official dinner.
Our IC team was graciously invited to Luxembourg to participate in the 3 Nations meeting on 17 and 18 September 2016 with the ICs of Belgium and Luxembourg. The Men's team won the trophy while the Ladies defended themselves with honor against experienced players. IC Swiss Team : Ladies - Sandra Hopfner, Susana Villaverde, Captain Michèle MIévile-Blondel / Gentlemen - Sandro Della Piana, Thierry Grin, Moores DuBruyn, Henri DeWet, Captain Thierry Grin.
